Food Review: Krazy Salad Bar Promotion

Hi All,

I have recently started my maternity leave to wait for the arrival of my little bundle of joy!
I feel more relaxed now!
Without the need to worry about work, I can now pamper myself and do what I want before the start of my motherhood.

As I am not sure when he will arrive, I'm treasuring my every single day of freedom.
On the first day of my maternity leave I have accomplished a number of items on my to-do-list. Done my pedicure, eyelash curling and shopping for body binder.
While I am strolling around, I happened to chance upon a crazy salad buffet promotion!
A good way to start my maternity leave, taking my time to enjoy buffet.
The usual price of the salad buffet bar is S$17.90 and now it costs only S$8.90 for limited period only! According to the staff they are having this opening promotion for a limited period. I am not sure it will be until when.

During my typical work day at Raffles Place, one of my favourite food for lunch is salad. I have salad almost every week. But it usually costs me S$8 - 12 for a bowl of vegetables.
Now with similar price, I can have unlimited round of salads, pastas, soup, fruits, chips, noodles, drink and even ice cream! Sound great right. This is not a paid advertorial. I am sharing this great deal as I always believe good things should be shared.

I will have to say the spread of the buffet is awesome. You can check from photos below.

We can make our own salad bowl with our favorite vegetables, meat and dressings!

There are 3 choices of soups: Mushroom, Clam Chowder and Mixed Vegetables

The choice of fruits are not a lot. But it's good enough for the amount we are paying

They even have pasta and noodle

Some topping for soup and pasta

Chili Con Carne

They have ice cream! Perfect way to end the meal with  ice cream especially when the weather in SG is so hot!

I am surprised that they have free flow of drinks too. Most low price buffets will not include drinks so that they can earn from us when we get thirsty after a heavy meal

Here's photos of what I had on the day. :)

I hope this promotion will not end soon so that I can enjoy a few more rounds of this great deal before I deliver.

The Krazy Salad is conveniently located at:

Block 190, Toa Payoh, Lorong 6
#02-512, Singapore 310190
(around Toa Payoh Central)

Happy Sharing,

Food Review: Tung Lok Seafood

Hi all,

It’s another buffet review!
Frankly, I am not a person who loves buffet as I can’t eat a lot.
However, there are occasions such as birthdays, family and friend’s gatherings in which buffet may be the preferred choice!

I’ve been to Tung Lok Seafood buffet located at Orchard Central with my hubby and family for a birthday celebration.

So here’s the list of the good and the not-so-good.

The Good:

1)      High food quality
Tung Lok serves ala carte buffet and this allows them to maintain the quality and taste of their dishes. Unlike many self-service buffets, where the food is placed in trays and may be cold after a while, Tung Lok serves the food while it’s hot. From the photos below, you can be assured that the taste is as good as the photos. My personal favourites are their smoke duck breast, salmon sashimi and their crispy fish skin with salted egg yolk (MUST ORDER AND IT IS SUPER GOOD!).

2)      Variety
There are a total of 42 dishes in their buffet choices. It includes
9 cold cuts, 3 salads, 2 soups, 10 types of side dishes, 10 types of Dim Sum, 3 types of noodles & rice and 5 kinds of desserts.

We were spoiled for choices and they allow unlimited orders of the same dish.

3)      Value-for-money
Moreover, it is extremely value-for-money. Their buffet lunch is only S$26.80++ on weekdays (Monday – Friday) and S$28.80++ on weekends (Saturday, Sunday and Public Holiday).

4)      Good location and ambience
It is conveniently located at Orchard Central and the place is pretty comfortable with good spacing between tables.

The Not-so-goods:

1)      Minimum Pax Required
Their downside is that minimum of 4 persons are required. In this case, if you are a couple who will like to enjoy this buffet, you may need to consider a double date. However, this buffet is an ideal choice for family and friends gatherings (the more the merrier) as more people may order more dishes for sharing and to have a taste of all the dishes.

FINAL VERDICT
“If you are intending to organize a buffet gathering for family and/or friends I would definitely recommend Tung Lok Lunch Buffet!! A BIG THUMBS UP for Tung Lok Lunch Buffet! Will definitely want to go back!"

Food Review: Carousel, Royal Plaza on Scotts

Hi All,

It's time for a food review. Introducing award winning Carousel at Royal Plaza!
Carousel is a Muis Certified Halal local and international buffet with wide selection.

I went there with my girlfriends to celebrate Yenn Rong's birthday so decided to do a review on it. We were there for their High Tea Buffet and was pleasantly surprised by their wide spread of choices. Below are the list of the goods and the not-so-goods.

The Goods:

1) Wide Variety
The food choices were splendid. There were so much that we did not manage to have a taste of every single one of them.
The food range includes:
Seafood (crab, oyster, etc),
Japanese spread (sushi and sashimi),
Chinese style (stir fried noodles, Dim Sum, etc),
Asian food (Nasi lemak, PoPiah, Laksa, Noodle station, etc)
Western (sandwiches, salad, etc), Indian food and
Last but not least, hell lots of dessert choices (fondue, creme brulee, cakes, ice cream, waffle..)

2) Efficient service
They were very prompt in clearing the plates. Every time, after getting a new serving and returned to our seats, we can be assured that the dirty plates on the table were cleared.

The Not-so-Good:

1) Ambience
I personally do not like the ambience. The lighting is dim and the seating area is pretty packed.
Kind of spoils the high tea experience.

2) Slightly below expectation
It may be due to the many good reviews I have read before heading to Carousel, so I had a certain level of expectation. I came to know from one of the reviews that they would serve cupcakes and sing birthday songs during birthday celebrations. When we reached the place, we had informed the staff of the birthday girl. Later, a few them came to check with us on who was the birthday girl. However, when the cupcake was finally served, the staff served to me instead of my friend. This was quite disappointing.

Also, their staff has took a photo of us and said they will email the photo to us and has requested for my email. But till date, I have only received email to feedback on their service and have yet to receive the photo.  Overall, my experience was good but definitely there is room for improvement.
